Our “baked" beans recipe is cooked on the stovetop and takes 15 minutes to cook when all the ingredients are combined. They taste like they have been baked, with a robust flavor and thick sauce. The beans are a perfect blend of sweet, savory, and smoky.
Cook the bacon until it is done, but not crisp. Drain and reserve 1/2 Tbsp bacon grease. Place bacon in a small saucepan.
In a small frying pan, heat the reserved bacon grease over medium heat. Add the onion and bell pepper and cook for about 5 minutes. Place in a saucepan with bacon.
Add the can of Pork and Beans and the remaining ingredients and stir. Place the saucepan over medium heat and simmer for 15 minutes, or until desired thickness.
Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
