Instructions
Combine wine, orange slices (reserving 2 slices), lemon juice, and honey in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer.
Add the cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, nutmeg, and star anise to the saucepan. Whisk to combine.
Simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat. Add the vanilla and bourbon and mix.
Strain to remove the anise and orange slices. Taste and adjust for sweetness.
Add 1 of the reserved orange slices and any other optional garnishes you are using to the mug, and serve warm.
