Mulled Red Wine Recipe for Two

- Small saucepan
- Knives
- Strainer
Ingredients
- 16 oz. Dry Red Wine , merlot or cabernet
- 1 oz. Bourbon
- 1/2 Orange sliced, divided
- 1 Star anise pod
- 2 Tbsp Honey
- 2 tsp Lemon juice
- 1/8 tsp Ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp Vanilla extract
- 1/32 tsp Ground cardamom
- 1/64 tsp Ground cloves
- 1/64 tsp Ground nutmeg
Optional Garnishes
- 2 Apple slices
- 2 Cinnamon Sticks
- 6 Cranberries
- 2 Star anise pods
Instructions
- Combine wine, orange slices (reserving 2 slices), lemon juice, and honey in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- Add the cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, nutmeg, and star anise to the saucepan. Whisk to combine.
- Simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat. Add the vanilla and bourbon and mix.
- Strain to remove the anise and orange slices. Taste and adjust for sweetness.
- Add 1 of the reserved orange slices and any other optional garnishes you are using to the mug, and serve warm.
