Royal Wood Cutting Boards Review

We decided to replace our plastic cutting boards with this set of Royal Wood Cutting Boards. They are made of renewable bamboo and come in three sizes: 6 x 9, 8 x 12, and 10 x 15. They come pre-oiled.

Pros:
They have a knife-friendly surface, so they don’t dull knives quickly.
The boards all have a juice groove to catch liquids. I like this feature; it means less mess and less cleanup.
They are heat-treated bamboo, which results in less warping, cracking, and staining.
I find we use the small and medium boards the most, but the large one makes a beautiful presentation board for charcuterie or fruit.

Cons:
The boards are unfortunately hand-wash only.
You need to remember to oil the boards every few days, in the first week you have them. Then, once a week for the next three weeks, and then monthly.
You will need to buy food-grade mineral oil to oil the boards with, but that’s fairly easy to find.
Mom is nervous about using raw meat on wood boards.

I would buy these Royal Wood Cutting Boards again in a heartbeat! We did try metal and glass cutting boards, but I prefer the feel of wood. Mom likes to use a glass cutting board for raw meat, which is why we will be reviewing our glass cutting boards soon. Neither of us liked the metal cutting boards, they were unpleasant to use and seemed to dull our knives quickly.
