Small Batch “Baked” Beans Recipe

Ingredients
- 2 Slices Hickory-smoked bacon , chopped
- 1 15.5 oz. Can Pork and beans
- 3 Tbsp Onion , finely diced
- 3 Tbsp Red bell pepper , finely diced
- 1 Tbsp Heinz no sugar added ketchup
- 1 Tbsp Molasses
- 1/2 Tbsp Apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 tsp Dry mustard
- 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/16 tsp Red pepper flakes, optional
- 1/64 tsp Hickory liquid smoke , optional
Instructions
- Cook the bacon until it is done, but not crisp. Drain and reserve 1/2 Tbsp bacon grease. Place bacon in a small saucepan.
- In a small frying pan, heat the reserved bacon grease over medium heat. Add the onion and bell pepper and cook for about 5 minutes. Place in a saucepan with bacon.
- Add the can of Pork and Beans and the remaining ingredients and stir. Place the saucepan over medium heat and simmer for 15 minutes, or until desired thickness.
- Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
