Cooking for Two
I have been making this cake for over 35 years. Of course, it was a full-sized cake back in the day. To have the flavors converted to a 4-inch cake was so exciting. I like how the vanilla and chocolate flavors balance out each other. Using whipped cream instead of frosting allows the cake to be just right in terms of sweetness. The cherries are a real treat and add the perfect touch. My kids always request this for their birthday cake.

This cake will surprise you. It has a stiff dough and is cooked at a low temperature for longer than the usual cake. But the biggest surprise will be the taste and texture of this awesome cake. The recipe for it is asked for a lot. It is not heavy in texture, has a light, refreshing flavor, and there is no need for icing. I make this cake a lot for family and potlucks.
I wanted to try this cake because my daughter-in-law is Hungarian. We will be serving it at her birthday celebration. It has a wonderful flavor, is light and moist, and comes together quickly.
This is not a quick cake, but it is worth every minute. The cake has an amazing flavor and is refreshingly different.
